Creating the next generation of student accommodation near Warwick University.
The Oaks is the first student accommodation scheme near Warwick University, in Coventry. Located just a ten minute walk from the university’s main campus, this new accommodation block includes first-class modern facilities.
The building utilised a lightweight steel frame and is traditionally brick-clad with bespoke brick colour mixes, which blend and gradually lighten in appearance over the building’s height.
The ground floor communal games room and lounge is fully glazed with 5-storey curtain walling which allow extensive views to and from both a landscaped entrance courtyard and a more private enclosed communal courtyard.
Built with biodiversity in mind
The maintenance and growth of biodiversity was an important part of the project. The native newts were protected during construction until their new pond was formed, allowing sufficient time to mature and become established with plants and pond life. A sustainable drainage system was incorporated utilising porous paving and below ground storage, which helps mimic natural drainage regimes by reducing surface water flooding whilst improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity.
The scheme created nine jobs including an assistant operations manager, customer service advisors, night owls, caretakers, and housekeepers, as part of a team providing 24/7 support for residents.

Student Roost were a fantastic partner since their acquisition in 2019 and we are excited about delivering Phase 2 & 3 with them over the next 24 months. We are delighted to be working with McLaren Construction on these new phases. Phase 1 is nearly fully let and Student Roost and their operational team have done a great job in settling in the new students."
The Oaks Phase 2 & 3
We are delighted to be delivering phase 2 & 3 of the Oaks student accommodation scheme adjacent to the University of Warwick. Works are well underway for the second phase of the project.
Due for completion in summer 2022, the Oaks phase 2 and 3 include two further buildings, delivering a total of 699 rooms and studios.
As the only purpose-built, large scale student accommodation in the area, this will provide much-needed, quality rooms and studios for students to enjoy as they attend the University of Warwick. The accommodation couldn’t be in a better location, bordering the main campus with everything students need within easy reach.
