We are specialists in building safety regulatory compliance, which is a constant referral point throughout a build process involving complex building re-modelling, re-cladding, passive and active fire protection upgrades, home interior, and mechanical and electrical upgrades.

McLaren Property specialises in market leading purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) and mixed-use commercial developments, delivering £1.5bn in development and 6,500 beds across the UK to date, with a strong pipeline of £2bn and 9,500 beds coming forward in major cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Warwick and Nottingham.

Founded in 2010, McLaren Property has forged successful joint ventures and funding partnerships with projects in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Brighton and Bournemouth, with an appetite to invest in other leading UK cities.

Residential development

McLaren Living specialises in residential development, with a focus on the build-to-rent and co-living markets, frequently working alongside McLaren Property.

Founded in 2020, McLaren Living has a pipeline of over £1.7bn, while also progressing mixed-use regeneration development opportunities in major cities across the UK.

McLaren Living works closely with landowners to maximise development value and partners with institutional funders to deliver sustainable, community-led residential and mixed-use developments.

We look beyond simple buildability efficiencies and think about what we can do as a design developer to collaboratively enhance the project’s eventual value. By focusing on quality of living, sustainable materials, and community integration, we ensure the development not only meets current needs but also creates lasting, vibrant residential spaces for the future.

Adding value on residential schemes

Additional development profit delivered at The Otto & Nightingale Lane, Dalston for the London Borough of Hackney. We built additional floors using design optimisation to create space for extra apartments, bringing a further £3m development profit.
£10m
Additional development profit delivered at The Makers, Shoreditch for the London Borough of Hackney through a successful challenge to the planning application and the introduction of five extra floors. We also re-allocated amenity space to the basement to gain extra apartments on the first floor.

Programme gain at Wembley Park for Quintain, speeding up installation on site by re-designing the masonry bracketry and finding other time efficiencies through BRT product development and off-site solutions.

Build to Rent (BTR)

Experienced in BTR frameworks, McLaren have extensive expertise in product innovation focusing on long term asset ownership in larger, purpose-designed blocks. For BTR projects, we concentrate on design flexibility with joined-up communal services and base product specifications, whilst creating scope to change superficial finishing over the long term.

High Rise living

Our specialist team have delivered numerous towers and understand how to manage people and materials during a high-rise building project, and how to secure an envelope whilst the frame progresses at height. Expertise includes the complexities of external cladding systems, fire safety and the unique challenges associated with developing multiple apartments floor by floor.
