Project Barley is the construction of a new distribution centre for Waitrose and Gazeley in Milton Keynes with associated enabling works. McLaren has been appointed principal contractor.
The new £34 million JCT Design and Built project is located on 44.7 acres of land in Milton Keynes. The total site area is 80 acres. Construction works include 600,000 square metres of earthworks, external cladding systems, structural PCC, dock levelers, plant decks and extensive soft landscaping to the surrounding area.
Incorporated into the distribution centre is a two storey office as well as ‘Goods-in’ and ‘Goods-out’ offices.
In addition, the project includes one kilometre of 278 works and the construction of a new roundabout to provide suitable access and egress to the new development and its surroundings.
