Digital Realty Trust is a large, international organisation with a network of data centres throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. McLaren completed the first two data halls at the company’s data centre development in Chessington. The project also included an accommodation block, external works and plant compounds for future phases.

The data centre project was secured on a design development basis. Unlike previous similar projects, these two data halls are designed and constructed to provide dual chilled water flow and return temperatures of 10/17 or 18/23 degrees Centigrade, depending on whether data units are arranged in a contained hot aisle layout or the conventional open aisle arrangement.

The S210 and S220 data halls together provide 20,710 sq ft of storage area and are served by the DLR standard DEG compliant systems that include air cooled chillers, room located CRAH units, static UPS, external generators and a mist suppression system.

Four more data halls have since been constructed at the Chessington facility.
