McLaren Construction secures extensive redevelopment scheme with Mercer Real Estate partners for over £48m in the City of London
McLaren Construction has been awarded a contract for an extensive redevelopment of a 1980’s office block at 160 Aldersgate Street worth over £48m. The site is situated directly opposite the Barbican residential area.
Designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, the scheme will provide 266,000 sq ft of high quality office space that appeals to the City market. The refurbishment will deliver an uplift to the existing area including an extra floor and freeing up roof space for additional terraces, replacing the existing façade to give the building a new identity, updating the building’s atrium and main entrance and reconfiguring the floor space to optimize the use of the basement, ground floor and office areas. The building will also have all new MEP throughout. McLaren began works on site in October and will be working to an 85 week timeframe.
Steve Hart, Regional Managing Director McLaren Construction – London said: ‘’This is the first contract McLaren has secured with Mercer Real Estate and to have won this job is a testament to our growing reputation and track record in the London commercial sphere. 160 Aldersgate is an exciting project which will create prime commercial office space within the City of London.’’
The project is due to finish in August 2017.
