The central theme of the Wellbeing Campaign was ‘engagement’ and we were pleased to see the level of response received from across the business.

The commitment shown by members of the steering group for their part in the planning and by all the participating teams for putting the ideas into practice ensured that we were able to educate a significant number people and to convert their thinking in a positive way.

Following the successful conclusion of this campaign and in line with the SHEQ Strategy Plan 2018 – 2021, McLaren will continue to promote health and wellbeing which, we believe, will have a positive effect as we strive towards the culture of ‘Work Safe Home Safe’.

Below is a snippet of some of the initiatives currently being planned for the remainder of 2018.

CITB ‘Stop. Make A Change’ Campaign (April 16 – 27)

One of the priorities identified by the CITB was to reduce the incidence of mental health issues within the construction sector. In support of this campaign, McLaren introduced several initiatives including ‘Happy Monday’ and Tai Chi taster class. We also invited Jake Mills, an ex-sufferer of mental health, to give us an insight into his personal journey from discovery to recovery.

Yoga Taster

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. We are currently exploring the possibility of organising taster sessions for those who might be interested in trying it out.

Breast Cancer Awareness Talks

Due to the popularity of the male cancer talks delivered during the campaign, we will be asking Coppafeel!, a charity organisation dedicated to ‘helping everyone stand the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer’, to visit our offices during October, which is the national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Movember Foundation

Discussions are already underway as to how we can support this initiative – which addresses some of the biggest health issues faced by men e.g. prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention – during the month of November. We would be very keen to hear from anyone with suggestions and ideas.
