Career Transition Partnership (CTP), are the Ministry of Defence’s official provider of Armed Forces resettlement and recruitment for ex-military personnel. In partnership with CTP, Greenlight Safety Consultants and Building Plymouth, McLaren’s Drake Circus project in Plymouth held an event about Construction and the Built Environment on site. This provided an insight into the opportunities and roles available to these individuals who have left or are due to leave the armed forces.

Creating Opportunities for our National Heroes

Our Safety Consultant, Stuart Spooner, led the presentation on his experience of leaving the armed forces and his employment history since then, leading on to a tour of the site.

Building Plymouth bookended the day by explaining the variety of job roles available with the industry as well as signposting on how to find a suitable opportunity. The day proved to be a success, with one man travelling over 200 miles from Liverpool to attend the event.

McLaren believes that construction is for everyone and we aim to encourage and inspire individuals to enter the industry. With the example of our colleague Stuart Spooner, we hope to provide further opportunities for other ex-military personnel to work with us in the future.
