McLaren International was appointed along with JV partner ECC as the main civils sub-contractor for the construction of the Gulf Data Hub Centre, in Silicon Oasis, Dubai by NOVA Corp.
The Gulf Data Centre project consisted of the construction of two, two-storey, tier three co-location Data Centre buildings, each with a built up floor area of 6,500 sqm. The buildings were constructed using hot rolled steel frame elements on reinforced pad foundations, with architectural finished PCC Wall Cladding panels, and aluminium composite roof cladding panels. The buildings had a kW rating of 1.2kW per square meter and were handed over fully functional with infrastructure, generators, LV switchgear, static UPS systems, EPMS systems, offices on the ground floor and three 1,000 sq m data halls on the 1st floor of each building. The data hall provided 1.2MW of critical IT load, cooled with computer room air handling units (CRAH’s). An exterior utility and infrastructure yard housed the air cooled chiller and pump units, MV transformers and associated switchgear, and water and fuel storage tanks. As a result of the world’s demand for sustainable buildings, one of the employer’s key goals for the project was to achieve LEED Silver accreditation, under the United States Green Building Council, which complemented the GOLD Award we previously achieved on the CEVA Project.
