Our McLaren International division has been appointed to deliver the next phase of DX3, the Equinix Data Centre Complex in Dubai Production City, Dubai, on behalf of Equinix Middle East FZ LLC. The appointment follows McLaren successfully completing the first phase of the DX3 project in June 2023 and working through a collaborative PCSA process alongside Equinix and their extended team for the second phase.

The latest phase of the data centre project will create an additional 7.2 MWIT of IT power for the complex, following the 3.6 MWIT created during the first phase, will cover an area of 9,154 sqm and will provide a net data hall floor space, across two storeys, of 3,106 sqm. The data centre will utilise facilities delivered in the first phase of DX3, such as offices, meeting rooms, breakout areas, security, as well as the loading dock and associated goods lift, while providing additional flexible working spaces, storage and workshop spaces.
McLaren will work with Equinix to install electrical infrastructure designed to provide flexibility to distribute 1.2MWIT across both data centres, depending on their energy requirements. Leveraging its experience in building successful data centre projects across the UK and the UAE, McLaren will be responsible for the site’s preparation, civil engineering, superstructure works, MEP services, finishes and external works, including road and utility infrastructure.
Lyndon Hives, UAE Pre-Construction Director at McLaren Construction Group, comments “Following our successful partnership with Equinix on the first phase of DX3 we are delighted to be awarded the second phase. This second phase will allow us to deploy our developing expertise and team, who have already been involved in delivering some of the region’s most complex data centre projects and will move forward in response to growing demands for data storage arising from rapidly evolving technologies such as AI.”
Colin McNally, Construction Director, Equinix, added “McLaren provided an exemplar delivery of the first 3.6MW phase of the DX3 project, where they excelled in health and safety, quality and on-time delivery. They proved to be a key strategic partner for Equinix and appointing them as our partner for the next phase leverages a foundation of trust, experience, and shared objectives to set the stage for a successful project.”
McLaren’s appointment reflects growing demand for data storage capacity globally and in the UAE, as technologies such as AI are increasing the need and intensity of data usage. McLaren integrates its expertise in high quality construction with technological and security requirements to deliver data centres that respond to evolving innovations.
The completion of the second phase of DX3 is set for March 2026.
